Khyania is one of the festivals celebrated by the
Gonds of
Madhya Pradesh. It is celebrated seven days before Rakhi, in the month of August. Gonds sow the wheat grains in baskets. On the next day of Rakhi, people cut the wheat crop from the basket and exchange this with one another. Some of it is immersed in the water of
Narmada River. This festival helps the Gonds to estimate the success or failure of crops of the coming season.
