Khwaja Muin-ud-din Chisthi, renowned as the
Sufi saint, was born in 1156 in Afganisthan. He is also known by the name Khwaja Sahib or Garib Nawaz. From his juvenile, he worked for the poor people.
Khwaja Sahib settled at Ajmer in the beginning of 13th century. He spread the teachings and ideas of great central Asian Sufis. His ideas were emphasized on mysticism, ecstatic states and pure devotions as a path to the god. He persisted on the fundamental unity of all religions.
The saint died in 1236. He was buried in a small brick tomb, which is now famous as Ajmer-e-Sharief Dargah.
