Khwaja Mahmud Gawan Madrasa




Khwaja Mahmud Gawan Madrasa, an Islamic educational center, is situated in the middle of the town, Bidar. The madrasa was built in the 15th century by Khwaja Mahmud Gawan, the Persian prime minister of the Bahmani dynasty. This impressive madrasa, resembles Persian architecture, has a few colorful remains of typical Islamic mosaics. It is a three storeyed building with large reading halls containing semi-octagonal chambers. The madrasa holds a library, which has over three thousand manuscripts.
