The Khonds form the largest tribe in
Orissa. They are more concentrated in the western parts of the state. Untouched by modern civilization, they still cherish old tribal traditions and concepts. Once the Khonds practised human sacrifice to appease the gods. Now it is being replaced by animal sacrifice. They still use bows and arrows to defend themselves and for hunting. A type of Dravidian language called 'kuvi' is widely used.
