Khem Karan is a small town in
Amritsar District, near the border with Pakistan, in
Punjab. It is located about 60 km south-west of the district headquarters town,
Amritsar and is hardly 5 km from the Indo-Pak border.
Baba Sheikh Brahamji's tomb at Mian Wala village is a major attraction, visited by devotees from both sides of the border to pay their respect, during an annual fair held at the end of monsoon season. It is the only place in India where the entry for Pakistani citizens is facilitated without a visa.
Nearest airport is at Amritsar. Khem Karan Railway Station is a terminus station of the rail line from Amritsar.
