Khas Mahal is one among the many fairy-tale palaces in
Agra Fort. A poetry in marble, it was built by
Shah Jahan and has some of the finest examples of paintings in marble.
Khas Mahal depicts a distinctive Islamic-Persian characteristic. It has three pavilions overlooking the Yamuna, with a fountain opposite to the central pavilion. The central pavilion has three arches on each side, five in front and two turrets rising out of the roof. Two copper-roofed pavilions built in the Bengali style is another noteworthy feature.
