Kharchaam is a war drum native to
Punjab. It was used in the olden days during a battle. Kharchaam was usually mounted on horses or camels, on the way to the battlefield. It was also used to warn of an enemy attack.
The beats produced by Kharchaam are loud. The body is constructed from metal. A thick hide of mule is stretched over the open end. The rim is usually adorned with tassels.
