Kharar, situated on either side of
National Highway 21, is the gateway to
Punjab. It is a sub-division town located about 27 km from
Rupnagar, the district headquarters of
Rupnagar District. Kharar is 15 km from
Chandigarh.
Kharar has a rich religious and historical heritage. Major point of attraction here is the Samadhi of famous Jain Saint Nathu Ram Ji Maharaj and Nem Muni Ji Maharaj. Ajj Sarover, a large tank situated here, is traditionally associated with Maharaja Ajj, the grandfather of Bhagwan Ram Chander Ji.
