Khalai is a basket used by the fishermen of
Assam for storing their catch. It is mostly used by those fishermen who fish in the shallow waters.
This basket resembles an earthen pitcher. It is constructed from bamboo strips. In the weaving process, longer strips are used vertically while the shorter ones are used horizontally.
