Khal is a religious sacrifice practiced by the Lushais tribe in
Mizoram. There are different types of khals. They are named after the animal sacrificed. Vawkte khal is the sacriifce of a vawk (pig.) In the kel khal, a kel (goat) is sacrificed. An ar (cock) is sacrificed in the ar khal. These three sacrifices are made soon after marriage. Dawibawl is the sacrifice offered to propitiate the huais (spirits) of the mountains, rivers and trees.
