Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), established in 1965, is a passenger transport organization run by the state government, providing bus services both within
Kerala and the neighboring states. The corporation was first introduced by the erstwhile
Travancore Government as the Travancore State Transport Department in 1938. KSRTC is managed by a board of directors, which is a six member team including the Chairman.
KSRTC strives to provide an efficient, adequate, economic and properly coordinated system of transport in the state while simultaneously maintaining high standards in terms of passenger comfort and safety, environment conservation and operational efficiency. The corporation has a fleet strength of Leyland, Tata, Eicher, Volvos, Low Floor Ananthapuri Air Bus and Ananthapuri City Fast.
KSRTC workshops and depots are widely spread across various towns in the state. It owns 31 depots, 35 sub-depots, 5 work shops, 17 operating centers, 1 chief office and 1 staff training centre. The corporation links all important cities, towns, historical places, religious places and commercial places in Kerala and main cities and towns in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
