Kaviyoor Mahadev Temple is an ancient shrine situated at
Kaviyoor, in
Pathanamthitta District. Built in the early years of the 10th century, it is considered as one of the oldest
Shiva temples in
Kerala.
References about the gifts that were offered to the temple are found in the Kaviyoor Shasanas that dates back to 950 AD. It is believed that the darusilpas seen around the temple belong to 17th century.
