Karppillikkavu Shri Mahadeva Temple




Karppillikkavu Shri Mahadeva Temple is one among the 108 eminent Shiva shrines in India, located at Manjapra village in Ernakulam District. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva under the name of 'Kirathamoorthy'.

It is said that the deity of this temple was installed by Karthyaveerarjuna. According to the legend, this temple was existing even before 2000 BC. The unique feature of this temple is that the pratishta faces the western direction.

Karppillikkavu Pooram is the annual festival held here during the Malayalam month of Makara (January-February) for eight days. The sahasra kalasabhishekam, sreerudhram dhara, tulabharam and navagrahapooja are the main offerings.

Manjapra is about 9 km from Angamaly. Angamaly Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
