Karguvan




Karguvan is a small hamlet which lies around 45 km from Sonagiri in Jhansi District. The 700 year old Shri Digamber Jain Atishaya Kshetra located here attaches tremendous archeological value to this place. Various kinds of idols have been excavated from Karguvan. Parshwanath Jayanti is annually celebrated here. Apart from the major Jain temple, Karguvan houses five other temples. A large number of Jain devotees visit the place mainly to offer worship to the biggest idol of Lord Parshwanath, the 23rd Tirthankar. The place also holds the idols of Bahubali, Neminath, Shantinath and Shri Adinath. Sonagiri and Gwalior are easily reachable from here. Lalitpur is 100 km from Karguavan and Jhansi Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead (8 km).
