Kapileshwar Mahadev

Kapileshwar Mahadev is an ancient cave temple located about 4 km from Pithoragarh, in Uttaranchal. The temple, tucked away in the Soar Valley, right above the villages of Takaura and Takari, is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

It is said to be the place where Sage Kapila meditated. The temple is situated some 10 m deep inside a cave and the alleys inside the cave branches out to several indeterminate destinations and has hence been closed for visitors.

From the region one could also catch the panoramic views of the Himalayas and the town of Pithoragarh.
