Kanchipuram Abirameswarar Temple




Kanchipuram Abirameswarar Temple is situated near Sangupani Vinayakar Temple in Kanchipuram. The presiding deity here is lord Abirameswarar. The temple also houses the deities of Lord Ganesh and Muruga with his consorts Valli and Theivanai.

According to the temple history, the idol of the temple was built by Lord Vishnu. After pushing Mahabali into the underworld, the Lord returned to this temple and worshipped Lord Abirameswarar as a mark of his deep respect and piety to Lord Shiva.
