Kanale is a remote village in
Shimoga District. The only attraction of the village is a Shiva temple. This temple, a retreat to the villagers, has mural paintings which provide an insight into the mural art tradition of
Karnataka, that was formerly revived and fostered by the Vijayanagar rulers in the 15th century. The paintings found in this temple are of a unique nature.
