Kampahareswarar Temple

Kampahareswarar Temple is located at Tribhuvanam near Tiruvidaimarudur in Thanjavur District. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, was built by the Chola King Tribhuvana Chakravarti to commemorate his victory in the north. The temple with many sculptural works is similar to the Periya Koil of Thanjavur. One of the rare sculptures seen here is the image of Sarabha with a strange combination of bird and man. The temple can be reached by traveling 6 km from Kumbakonam in the Mayiladuthurai road.
