Kaman, also known as Kamaban, is an old town situated in the northern part of
Bharatpur District in
Rajasthan. It is around 55 km north of
Bharatpur, the district headquarters.
Legend has it that Lord Krishna had spent his early life here and therefore it is considered sacred by Hindus. Kaman was formerly known as Brahampore, which was later changed by Kamsa, uncle of Krishna. Kaman is also considered to be the short-form of Kadambawana, since a large number of Kadhamba Trees are found here. Kaman also holds the remains of ancient temples and mosques.
Bharatpur Junction Railway Station is the nearest major railhead. Sanganer Airport is the nearest airport.
