Kamalavalli Nachiyar Temple is an ancient shrine located at
Woraiyur, in
Tiruchirapalli District of
Tamil Nadu. This highly revered
Vishnu temple of yore is one of the major landmarks in Woraiyur - the erstwhile capital of
Chola dynasty.
Kamalavalli Nachiyar Temple is regarded as the second of the 108 famous shrine of Vishnu blessed with ‘mangala sasanam’ by Shri Namm Alwar. The presiding deity is installed in a sitting posture with Shri Azhahiya Manavala Perumal standing behind here.
The inner walls of the Shri Namm Alwar shrine features exquisite wall paintings over 200 years old repainted 60 years back. The paintings depicts Matsya avatar, Narasimha avatar, Acharyas, Alwars, Vaishnavite mythology, and the law of justice and dharma as enunciated by Ambarisha.
Kamalavalli Nachiyar Temple was in existence even before 7th century. The has been referred by Shri Thirumangai Alwar in his pasurams.
