Kamadgiri




Kamadgiri Hill (Old Chitrakut) is a place of prime religious significance situated in Chitrakut, Uttar Pradesh. It is a forest covered hill surrounded by a 5 km ritual circuit (Parikrama), with temples all the way around the hill. It is believed that Lord Ram is said to have lived here.

One of the major temples situated here is the Shree Kamatanath Temple. Bharat Milap Temple located here is believed to be the spot where Bharat, the brother of Lord Ram, have tried to convince Ram to return to Ayodhya, to be the king.

Every day thousands of devotees perform the ritual circuit (Parikrama), of the sacred hill, to ask for a boon or a blessing.
