Kalpathy Viswanatha Swamy Temple

Kalpathy Viswanatha Swamy Temple is an ancient shrine located at Kalpathy in Palakkad District of Kerala. It was built in 1425 AD by Kombi Achan, the then Raja of Palakkad. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva.

It is believed that a Brahmin widow named Lakshmiammal went to Banaras (Kashi) and brought the shivling, and installed in the present site. This temple is on the southern bank of the Bharathapuzha just as Kashi is on the banks of the Ganges. Hence the temple is called 'Kasiyil Pakuthi Kalpathy' (Half Banaras).

Kalpathy Chariot Festival held in November at this temple is a major attraction. Devotees throng the temple in large numbers during this festive season.

Kshipra Ganapathy Temple at New Kalpathy, Shri Prasana Mahaganapati Temple and Mahaganapathy Temple are the nearby places of worship.

Kalpathy is about 3 km from Palakkad.
