Kalkkunnel Mar Geevarghese Sahado Church is a major church situated at Kottappady, close to
Kothamangalam. Functioning under the Angamali diocese, this church was consecrated in 1923 by the late Malankara Metropolitan Mar Athanasius Paulose.
The church is popularly known as Kalkkurisu Pally (stone-cross church) because a huge stone cross was positioned in the place where the present church is located. The Holy Patriarch of Antioch Moran Mar Ignatius Zakka I visited here in 1982.
The feast of Mar Geevarghese Sahado and the feast of St Ignatius Elias III are grandly celebrated with religious importance on 10 November and 13 February respectively.
