Founded in 1897, the Kalimpong Arts and Craft Center has received recognition from all over the country. Located at the center of
Kalimpong town, the center makes and sells handicraft goods including tapestry bags, purses, pictorial wall panels, screens, embroidered bags, scrolls, masks, jewelry and other artifacts. Carpet weaving, dyeing, painting, tailoring, leather craft and carpentry are taught at this center.
Mrs Katherine Graham started this center to promote and propagate local handicrafts and to provide employment opportunities to locals. The center was managed by Scottish missionaries earlier. The works are done on Bhutanese and Sikkimese designed cloths, which are manufactured here.
