Kalidas Memorial




Kalidas Memorial has been built in memory of the famous classical Sanskrit dramatist Kalidas at Ramgiri mound. It is situated at Ramtek, on top of the hillock along the road that leads to the 600 year-old temple.

The smarak or memorial has painted panels depicting scenes from the plays of Kalidas. The lovers of literature gather at Kalidas memorial on the first day of Ashad, the monsoon month. Kalidas Memorial is open daily from 08:00 to 20:30 hrs to visitors, for a small entrance fee.

Ramtek is 40 km north-east of Nagpur. The Memorial is readily accessible from Ramtek railway station and bus stand, just 2 km apart. Every hour, buses ply to and from Nagpur. The nearest airport is at Nagpur.
