Kalakar Trust, a non profit organization at Safdarjang enclave in
New Delhi, started functioning in 1992. The organization concentrates mostly on the improvement of the lives of artists from low income groups. Major activities include income generation, education, health care, and housing society’s development. It has started developing international exchanges with artists from other countries. Joint performances and workshops are also organized. At present, the trust has promoted more than 2,600 families of mostly puppeteers, dancers, musicians, acrobats, and magicians.
