Kala Raksha Folk Art Museum is situated at Bhuj, the headquarters of
Kutch District,
Gujarat. The museum roots itself in the simple concept of involving people in presenting their own cultures. It is intended to serve artisans by providing them with access to their heritage of traditional embroideries, thereby restoring the link of tradition.
The museum collections focuses on four different styles - Suf, Khaarek and Paako practiced by the peoples living in sub regions of the greater Thar Parkar region spanning Sindh, Rajasthan and Kutch and the ethnic style of Rabari pastoral nomads. The Rabari textiles on display are original while the Suf and Khaarek embroideries are replicas.
