Kailasanatha Temple

Kailasanatha Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Thingalore, on the Tiruvaiyaru-Kumbakonam Road, about 3 km from Tiruvaiyaru, in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the famous Navagraha Sthalas and one of the 274 Shaiva Sthalas in the state. The temple enshrines Lord Shiva, popularly known here as Kailasanatha, as the presiding deity. Other deities worshipped here include Periya Nayagiammai and Lord Chandra.

It is believed that Lord Chandra has worshipped Lord Kailasanatha at this place, hence the name Thingalore.

Most noteworthy feature of the temple is that in the months of Purattasi and Panguni, Moon's rays fall on the Shivling.

Thanjavur Junction Railway Station is the nearest railway station. The temple can be easily accessed by bus from Thanjavur Bus Station.
