Kailasamudaiyar Temple is located at Cholamadevi, in
Thiruverumbur, in
Tiruchirapalli District of
Tamil Nadu. It is set amid green paddy fields and sylvan surroundings on the northern banks of Uyyakondan channel. The temple is about 12 km from
Tiruchirapalli.
Kailasamudaiyar Temple dating back to 11th century is a treasure house of historic information. The base and walls of the temple boasts several inscriptions belonging to the periods of Raja Raja Chola I. Though inscriptions from the periods of Rajendra Chola I and Vira Rajendra Chola I are found majority of the inscriptions belong to Raja Raja I.
Kailasamudaiyar Temple is now in a dilapidated state due to age and neglect.
Tiruchirapalli Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
