M R Ramakrishna Panikkar, popularly known as Kadammanitta, was born on March 22nd 1935 in
Kadammanitta,
Pathanamthitta District. This poet-MLA played a pivotal role in the development of modern poetry in
Kerala. Humanism is the hallmark of his poetry. Kurathi, Santha, and Makanodu are the important poetic works of Kadamanitta.
After graduation, he left for Kolkata, but due to fate, he landed in Chennai. In 1959, he got a job in postal audit and accounts office in Chennai. He was also the president of the State Literacy Council. In 1996, he was elected to Kerala Assembly from Aranmula.
He published his first poetry Gjan, in 1965. He has about 75 poetic works in his name. Asan Prize, Kerala Sahithya Academy award, Abu-dhabi Malayali Samajam Award, Malayalam International Foundation of New York Award, and Muscat Kerala Cultural Center Award are among his achievements.
