Kadamb Centre for Dance and Music is located at
Ahmedabad. It was founded in 1963 by Kumudini Lakhia, a famous dancer, and Atul Desai, a well known vocalist. The objective of the center is to promote
Kathak in
Gujarat.
Kadamb is also one of India's most prominent performing groups. There are about 150 students and the center has participated in major dance festivals of India. The group has also performed in many countries around the world including USA, UK, USSR, Sweden, Germany, Seychelles, Portugal, Indonesia, Thailand, Mongolia, China, Korea, Pakistan, Brazil, Bangladesh, and Italy. Kadamb's creative innovations and the intelligent approaches in themes and choreography have been appreciated by the connoisseurs of the art.
