Kadaimudinathar Temple

Kadaimudinathar Temple is an ancient Shivasthalam located at Keezhaiyur near Mayiladuthurai, in Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple enshrines Kadaimudinathar (Anthisamrakshaneeswarar) as the presiding deity. The shrine of Goddess Abhiramavalli, the consort of Kadaimudinathar, is a west facing one. The temple has shrines dedicated to Nataraja, Bhairav and the Tevaram trinity.

The temple preserves several inscriptions from the Chola and Pallava periods. An inscription from the Vikrama Chola's period refer to the deity here as Tiruchchadaimudi Udaiya Mahadevar. An image of Ardhanariswara discovered near the temple suggest this stone structure was erected during the days of Aditya Chola I. The idol is now preserved in the Chennai Government Museum.

Legend has it that Lord Brahma worshipped Lord Shiva at this place.
