Ka Shad Shyngwiang Thangiap is a ceremonial dance performed by the
Khasis of
Meghalaya. This dance is performed mainly to convey sorrow on the occasion of a death in the family.
It begins on the day of the death, and is performed in a place close to the kitchen of the house, known as Rympeiling. It lasts till the final rites are held on the burial grounds. When the dance is performed the male musicians play music on the flute, drum and bamboo pole.
