Established in 1983, K L Nagaswamy Memorial Polytechnic College is a self financing institution, the first of its kind in India. It is situated on the banks of River Vaigai, 3 km away from the city of
Madurai, on the Madurai-
Rameshwaram highway.
The polytechnic, accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, offers diploma courses in electronics and communication, electrical and electronics, civil, mechanical and computer engineering, and information technology. It also conducts need-based short term courses to help students start their own small scale industries. Collaboration with most of the textile mills, engineering and other industries in and around Madurai enables hands-on training.
The college has a well-stocked library with about 8000 reference books. Separate hostel facilities are available for boys and girls.
