Thakurbari is the house of the Tagores, located at Jorasanko in north
Kolkata. It is an 18th century complex built by Prince Dwarkanath Tagore, the grandfather of
Rabindranath Tagore. There are several buildings in the complex. Rabindranath Tagore, the famous scholar and poet, was born here. Today it houses a museum and a university called
Rabindra Bharati University, which specializes in fine arts. The Bengali light-and-sound show is arranged here on a regular basis.
