Jhoda are songs native to
Uttaranchal. These songs are usually meant to accompany group dances held on special occasions. They are also called Chanchari songs in some parts of the region. ‘Jhoda Dalna’ is the common term used for these songs.
The Jhoda songs usually form the background for community dances. These dances involve men and women, who move in circles holding each other’s hands singing. The songs are not restricted to any particular style of singing.
