Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), established in 1954, is the premier institution in
Manipur for
Manipuri dance, music and allied arts. The institute is located on the D M College Road in
Imphal.
JNMDA is a constituent unit of the Sangeet Natak Akademi. The institution has comprehensive courses designed for potential professional artists. The main courses offered here are Manipuri Ras Lila, Lai Haraoba and Thang Ta (a martial art form).
The academy has Production Unit, striving to enrich Manipuri repertoire through experimental choreography that is presented both in India and abroad.
