Jathakam means 'horoscope.' It is predicted from a diagram showing the relative positions of the stars and planets at his or her birth. There are three basic parameters in a Jathakom, namely
Grahas (planet),
Bhavas (houses) and Rashi (sign).
In Hindu tradition, Jathakom has great significance. It is used for many purposes such as marriage and Gruha Pravesham (housewarming) and also even used for knowing his or her right time to start a new business or to build a house.
