Jarasingha




Jarasingha is located in Balangir District of Orissa. The village is famous for a festival called 'Patkhanda Jatra.'

It is dedicated to Goddess Patakhanda. The festival usually falls on 'Aswina' month and is celebrated from 8th to 10th day of the bright fortnight. According to the custom, a person locally called 'Barua' controls the festival. People suffering from diseases are brought here during the festivals, in large numbers, with the hope of getting rid from illness.
