Janapada Loka is a subsidiary of the Karnataka Janapada Parishath situated at Ramanagaram, in
Bangalore Rural District,
Karnataka. It is located about 53 km from
Bangalore on the Bangalore-
Mysore Highway. Janapada Loka is a treasure-trove of Karnataka's folk heritage.
Janapada Loka is a 15-acre complex with an open-air theatre, a studio, an art gallery and a museum - Lokamahal Museum. The museum features a rich collection of about 5,000 artifacts. Featured items include models of mythical animals, costumes, Soma masks, weapons, life-size figures, earthenware units, antique articles of worship and articles of everyday use such as mouse and pig traps, utensils, wooden kitchen artifacts and traditional musical instruments.
Entry for the public is facilitated from 08:00 to 17:00 hrs on all days except Tuesdays and public holidays.
