Jami Masjid

Jami Masjid is one of the outstanding structures in Mandu - the city of joy. It is one of the finest examples of Afghan architecture in India. Inspired by the great mosque of Damascus, Jami Masjid stands on a high ground with a high plinth and a domed porch projecting in the center. The background of the masjid is dominated by similar imposing domes with the intervening space filled up by innumerable domes. Jami Masjid is enclosed by huge colonnades with a rich and pleasing variety in the arrangement of arches, pillars, number of bays and in the rows of domes above.
