Jama Masjid, built for the Muslim soldiers of the erstwhile British army, is a historic structure located at the north-western corner of
Naini Lake in
Nainital.
Adorned with exquisite artworks, the mosque epitomizes the adroitness of craft of the ancient Islamic style of architecture. Many minarets that garnish its periphery are also noteworthy. Over the main entrance one can see Arabic inscriptions. The most notable feature is the mihrab where a niche shows the direction towards Mecca.
