Jalahalli Sree Ayyappan Temple incepted in April 1967, is the first Lord Ayyappa shrine outside
Kerala. Besides the idol of
Lord Ayappa, the temple enshrines
Ganapati,
Devi Durga,
Navagrahas and
Nagas. The
poojas are conducted according to the Yajurvedic style as prescribed by the main priest, the High Priest of
Sabarimala.
The temple opens for pooja at 5:30 hrs and is closed at 20:30 hrs. The main festivals of the temple include Holy Mandala Makara Vilakku from November to January, Banner festival, Navratri, Shashti Pooja and Pournami Pooja.
The temple is located on the Bangalore-Pune National Highway No.4 at Jalahalli, 12 km from Bangalore city.
