A prolific Hindi poet, dramatist, and novelist, Jaishankar Prasad (1889-1937), is regarded as one of the makers of Hindi literature. Jaishankar Prasad was born in
Varanasi. His earlier writing was in Braj dialect, but later he switched on to Sanskritized Hindi.
He was a leader of the Chhayavadi Literary movement. 'Chaya,' 'Akash Deep,' 'Lehar,' and 'Kamayani' are among his renowned works. His most famous work is 'Kamayani,' which is considered one of the best representations of the Hindi poetry. Prasad's most famous dramas include 'Skandagupta,' 'Chandragupta' and 'Dhruvaswamini.'
