Jagannatha Festival

Jagannatha Festival is celebrated at Shri Jagannath Temple, in Madathiparambu, near Thalassery. It falls in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February-March) and lasts for eight days. The seventh day of the festival is considered the most auspicious, as there is a procession led by seven caparisoned elephants. Cultural programs and religious conferences are organized, in which eminent scholars and social reformers participate. The festival culminates with an elaborate display of fire works.
