Itkhori




A taluk headquarter, Itkhori is situated on the confluence of Mahane and Vaksha rivers. The town is located at Chatra District, 14 km south of Chauparan in Jharkhand. Itkhori is a pilgrimage for Shaivites, Vaishnavites, Buddhists and Jains alike. This scenic place is a perfect picnic destination too. Itkhori is famous for a 400-year-old Bhadrakali Temple. This temple has Hindu, Jain and Buddhist deities. Bhadli Mela - held on the occasion of Makar Sankranti - is an important religious festival of Itkhori. The town is linked with Chatra, the administrative headquarters of the district, by road. The nearest airport is at Gaya, in Bihar. Kodarma Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
