Iqbal College,
Peringamala, is named after the poet and philosopher, Dr. Sir Allama Mohamed Iqbal. It was established in 1964 as a junior college. Today, it stands as a first grade college with nearly 2,000 students and all necessary infrastructure. Degree courses in Mathematics, Physics, Botany, Zoology, History, Communicative English and post graduate courses in History are offered there. The N.S.S and N.C.C organize regular extension programs such as adult and population education, planning forum, and coaching centre. 53 teachers and 41 office staff work in the college. Iqbal College was recently declared the first 100% IT literate college under the university.
