An autonomous institution set up by the
University Grants Commission, the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), promotes the establishment and growth of active groups in Indian universities, engaged in teaching, research, and development of astronomy and astrophysics.
The prime activities comprise numerous academic ventures including masters and doctoral programs, advanced research and fellowships. Currently, active research is under way in Classical and Quantum Gravity, Cosmolgy and Large-Scale Structure, Galactic and Extragalactic Astronomy, and so on.
IUCAA features excellent facilities such as advanced telescopes, computer center, instrumentation laboratory, library, and recreation centre.
