Insuknawr, also known as Rod–pushing, is a prominent sport in
Mizoram. The State Sports Council has declared this game as 'Mizo National Game'. Only men folk participate in this game. Insuknawr takes place on a flat surface and within a circle with a diameter of 18 ft. The performers use a rounded wooden rod or pole, 8 ft long and 4 inches in diameter.
Before the game begins, each contestant holds the wooden rod in his hand. The centre of the rod is kept in parallel with the centre of the circle. Each participant tries to push his opponent out of the ring within three to five rounds, through the back or the side of the circle. The one who scores the maximum points is declared the winner.
