Institute of Sikh Studies started its operations in 1989 in
Chandigarh with the objective of interpreting the basic philosophy of Sikhism as stated in the original writings of Guru Nanak and the succeeding gurus. It studies and research the history of development of Sikh religion and traditions.
The institute prepares and publishes literature on Sikhism and organizes meetings, seminars, camps talks and discussions for bringing awareness of Sikh ideals among Sikh community. Institute of Sikh Studies conducts Punjabi language course for beginners. The institute intends to set up a reference library.
